So I’m helping a friend with his car and the car door won’t lock when you use the fob key and even when you just shut the door normally. It acts like there is something blocking it from closing. It doesn’t have anything to do with a broken fuse I checked that. So I think it has to be wiring, but I don’t know where to start. The battery is also drained out, but the car lights still turn on if you put the key in and the engine hardly ever so slightly turns over.

We need to start with a good battery so let's get that tested as this will cause this issue. If the battery is weak then it will not energize the actuator "enough" to move the lock. Basically it needs 12 volts to move and if it is worn it may not move very well on 11 or 10 volts. The other actuators may operate but these are separate components and may not be worn as much.

If it still does not operate with a new battery then we will most likely need to change the lock actuator. So let's start with the battery and go from there. Thanks
