Drive Belt waring Light

I recently purchased a 2007 Mini Cooper and a "Drive Belt" warning light came on. Please let me know if this a serious issue or something that I can take care of myself.

The timing belt is due to be replaced, do not delay in getting this done as if if failes you will do serious damage to the engine, this light is not an indication that it is about to fail, just a warning that it is due to be replaced.
