Hi. I have recently bought a new engine for my car listed above d model. Engine number A14xer. But It was missing a drive belt. Now I bought a drive belt at a auto parts store, belt 5pk 1355. My car has air conditioning but the belt seems small. Is my mechanic installing the belt incorrectly or do I need a longer belt based on the information I provided? As the belt they gave me at the store I was told it was the correct size for my car. If I must get a longer belt what size do I need for the specified model?

Hi,

Not being there is a bit difficult in this case. Also, this model isn't offered in the US, so my technical information is extremely limited. Does he still have the original belt to compare the new one to? Also, is he following the correct routing for the belt? Last, if this has an automatic tensioner, has he confirmed it isn't bad?

If the original belt is available, I would compare. I don't have the exact length, but you should be able to tell by the comparing. Also, contact the parts store and have them confirm the part number they sold you. If it still doesn't fit, then return it and have them compare what they sold you with a different belt of the same part number. Something could have been switched.

If you can, take a picture of the belt and pulleys so I can see what you are dealing with. At least I'll be able to tell if it has an automatic tensioner.

Take care and let me know.

Joe
