My door handle does not work from the outside?

My door handle works on the inside just not the outside. The rod for the handle on the outside isn't connected. I was wondering if anyone had any pictures or video on how it is supposed to be hooked up right to be able to use the outside door handle again? Both passenger and driver's door are like this.
