What do you think can be wrong? I took it to get diagnose but the mechanic is telling me something about a computer needs to set. Is this likely the issue?

Hi,

Unfortunately, this could be a ton of things causing this. It could be an engine sensor, transmission issue, or a computer itself. I would need more detail about what the mechanic means by setting a computer.

Do you have an estimate or any paper work from them?

Let me know if you have more info and we can go from there. Thanks

Well, I was told to take it to locksmith. It was something with the computer.

On the highway my car would jerk like it's about to shut off. I noticed on the highway it does not accelerate properly like it's not getting gas.

Okay. I am not sure what a locksmith would do for you in this instance so I would not follow that advice.

Sounds like you have a hesitation. If this is the case, it could be a fuel issue or it could be a sensor issue. Here is a guide that will help narrow this down:

Unfortunately, we are going to need to hook up a fuel pressure gauge to start and see what the pressure is doing while it is acting up and then we will most likely need a scan tool to check for codes and then monitor some sensors to properly diagnose this issue.

Let me know if you have access to this and we can go from there. if not, I can give you some general ideas past this guide.

Is it possible that the diagnostic reader they used to get a code done something to the computer?

Okay. Unfortunately, the code reader will not cause any issues. It simply reads what the computer is telling it. It doesn't have the ability to change the computer in any way.

I am sorry, I don't have an easy answer on this one but we are going to have to get more information to go on before we can limit it down. Let me know if you have access to any of the items above. If not, we probably need to have it checked out by a shop. Thanks
