If I switch to synthetic oil will full synthetic oil reduce oil consumption?

I watched some videos on YouTube and said it does because the molecules of synthetic oil are uniform and leaves a thin film of oil on cylinders walls. Conventional oil are not.

Hello,

While it is true that synthetic oil provides better lubrications due to more resistance to decay, it may not provide protection against oil consumption.

As for your oil consumption, do you happen to know what is causing it?

Oil can burn due to worn engine components, or having an oil leak. Most of the time when the engine burns oil you will get blue smoke out of the tail pipe.
And engine can burn oil due to faulty piston rings, worn valve steam seals, even when it is over full.

So, the sure way to prevent oil consumption is to find the issue and fix.

Let me know what issues you are experiencing or if you have any questions.
Thank you.

There is no blue smoke from the exhaust and the oil stays clean in the engine. Also, the spark plugs color are normal in my opinion there are not black. The ceramic is white with a little of brownish on it.

You know that is not a terrible amount of consumption, especially with the miles.
Changing to synthetic could improve, but I wouldn't rely on that too much.
Losing 1/2 QT in 2,000 miles is not bad.

I think that could help. It is always a good idea to flush after certain mileage to keep things clean.

Since you are changing over, just go with high mileage full synthetic. That way you know you are getting the best possible option.
