1999 Dodge Van 1 of 5 speeds working

When I set a/c blower control to 1 thru 4 nothing happens and the a/c light does not light up but when I put blower speed to 5 q/c works fine but only at that highest speed setting how do I fix it or is that a dealer repair shop fix thankes charles otto

OK, there is an AC resistor in the engine compartment, right on the AC box, take the 2 screws off and pull it out, that is what the problem should be, get a new one put it in and it should working again
