Temperature gage-sending unit reset/wiring

I have a 1990 full size dodge truck with a 360ci. I have replaced the temp. Sending unit but when the engine is running the gage in the dash pegs hot but the engine has only run 3 min. And the hoses are cold. Can this be reset somehow? What should I do?

Sounds like you may have a short in the wiring. Disconnect the sending unit and see if it still shows hot. Check the wiring from the sending unit for any rubbing or chaffing.
