2004 Dodge Truck Shift Indicator

Hello - When I put my truck in park, the dash indicator still shows Reverse, even though the truck is actually in Park. Further, it will not start since the system thinks it is in reverse. If I shift to Neutral, it will start. Why does it show Reverse instead of Park? Where would I begin to run this down? Thanks.

Sounds like the Trans Position Switch is shorted internally. If all other gears show the proper indicator, it is an internal short and should be replaced
