2001 Dodge Truck COMPRESOR STARTING AND STOPPING

AC WAS NOT WORKING BROUGHT IT TO REPAIR SHOP, COMPRESSOR WOULD RUN THEN STOP LIKE IT NEEDED FREON, SHOP ADDED FREON AND LEAK DETECTOR, WORKED FINE FOR A WHILE THEN THE COMPRESSOR STARTED DOING THE SAME THING. BROUGHT IT BACK THEY FOUND A BAD LOW PRESSURE SWITCH. COMPRESSOR STARTED DOING THE SAME THING AGAIN. WHEN THE COMPRESSOR IS RUNNING THE AIR IS COLD THE TUBE NEXT TO THE DEHYDRATOR IS COLD NEVER FREEZES. DOESN'T SEEM TO HAVE A LEAK. COULD IT BE A BAD CLUTCH/

I don't think it is the clutch. I would look at the high and low pressure switch. Now you say you replaced the low pressure switch on the accumulator so I will assume for now that it is good and the correct one. Now what I need to know is what the pressures are. Meaning I need to know what the pressure is when the clutch shut off and what it is when the clutch turns back on. I need the high pressure reading and low pressure reading at both on and off of the clutch. After I have that I can see if the pressure is in spec to help figure out what it going on. Get back to me with that info and we will go from there.

Thanks for the response, I don't have a set of guages to check pressures. I guess i'll have to get it back to the shop. Apprently the pressures were where they needed to be the last time I brought it in after they replaced the pressure switch. Unless you have any other suggestions I guess we're done.

When they replaced the switch did they make sure the system was full?
