2001 Dodge Ram 1500 4X4 starts but dies

It starts but immediately dies. The battery will turn it over and it will run for a few secopnds only. Could it be a fuel pump promblem I did smell gas the day prior when driving it.

You know I really don't know much about automotive repair but I had the same problem with my truck and it was where when you step on the gas pedal and there is a fuel line that is pulled to open up and let the gas through. My line did not have enough tension I guess it just got loose somehow. So what I did was have my friend step on the gas pedal while I took a strong hair rubber band to keep the gas line open just as a temp fix so I could drive it to the mechanic. I can't find the repair manual for my truck to try to repair it myself. So it could be that?
