How do you remove the water pump from a 1999 Doge Stratus?

First pull the belt off of the car by pushing the tensoner pully down with a socket wrench, I beleive its a 3/4 socket or a 11/16 socket. Then there should be 5 or 6 bolts going around the pump itself, (you may have to remove the alternator to get to it). When the pump is out take off the pully on the water pump itself, there not gonna give you a new one with the new pump. If your replacing the pump cause the car is over heating check the thermostat first, it should be located at the end of the upper radiator hose.

Your first response is a good one, but make sure you scrape the old gasket off, and when replacing the thermostat make sure you get a water outlet gasket, and when changing a water pump you should change the timing belt as well
