Dodge Stratus 1996 (shaking, dying at stops)

Hi, a few weeks ago my car started shaking and rpm dropping when I would come to a stop, some times it would die. Following some weird noise under the hood I notice that a hose with a knob that reads, "EVAP service port, " has melted around a hot metal pipe. So I splice the line and move it up higher to avoid the same problem. Well for two weeks it worked. But now when I come to a stop the rpm's drop and the car shakes worse then ever, it dies just about every time I come to a complete stop. If the car doesn't die at a stop it shakes and when I press on the gas it doesn't go, I have to floor it to get it to come out of the "shakes." Also when in idle I feel pulsing in the EVAP service port line that I spliced earlier. Please help me figure out what is wrong.

Ok went and had the car checked out with a computer. The codes I got were P0300 and P0302 (no 2 cylinder misfire). I just had the sparkplugs changed a month ago. Does any body have any tips on what else I could check and how?

Check your egr valve, take it off and clean it with some carb cleaner, also check your vac lines for leaks.
