Hi, I am having some issues with my car, and am not sure what is wrong. If you could please help me I would appreciate it. My car is dieing especially when I go into reverse or when I am at a stop. My car idle goes up down up down. Then by lights go dim bright dim bright when my car is trying to die. My idle jumps up down up down and my car starts shaking trying to juice up on its own but then ends up dieing. I am a single mom and am very dependent on my car so if there is any way you could help me figure out what this could be I would greatly appreciate it! Thank you!

If a vehicle idles erratically and surges (idle speed is not steady and increases and decreases), the problem may be a buildup of carbon or fuel varnish deposits in the idle speed control valve (also called the idle air control valve or IAC valve). The cure for this condition is to clean the valve with some aerosol throttle cleaner or engine top cleaner.
