2000 Dodge Stratus 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

while driving the car quit running now it will not start but whill crank can the alternator cause this

Have a helper crank it, while visually check for spark at the plugs. If you have spark everywhere, use a gage and check fuel pressure. Some of the national brand autostores used to loan out a fuel pressure gage, if you don't one. If the battery has a full charge, I don't think the alternator is the problem.
