My 2000 dodge stratus has a blown transmission. It will not drive in its current state. My mechanic recommends replacing the transmission with a used one which comes with a 6 month parts and labor warranty. Total price for the transmission and labor is $1500. My car is only worth about $2500-$3000. Is this a wise option or should I just try to sell it "as-is" and use the $1500 toward another vehicle?

Honestly, you might be able to find a better deal on getting the trans replaced. Ask yourself this, how well do you like the car, if it was running good would you drive it for a while longer, if you like the car then get it fixed, you may have a hard time getting any kind of decent money out of it " as is "
