Hi there,

My car has been having this problem for about 8 months. It began after moving from the Midwest to California on the 2nd day after driving through a lot of mountains. When accelerating past 35, the car will shift as it should, but every time I brake below 30 mph, the car downshifts really hard and there is a "bump". I am wondering what the problem might be. The bump varies in intensity and seems to be a little softer when the car is warmed up (after driving on the freeway). The transmission otherwise seems to be fine as far as shifting when it should. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Perform this little procedure. Insert the key in the ignition and cycle the key to ON-OFF-ON-OFF-ON with 5 seconds (not too fast in cycling the key). Locate your digital odometer screen and read the diagnostic codes. Post the numbers here and we'll help you diagnose.
