I have been having problems with my electric door fob ( I think there's a short somewhere since I keep blowing fuses the most recent was a 15amp fuse) but now my key wont open my driver side lock. It does work on the passenger side door though. Do I need to replace the locking mechanism and how do I do that, or is there another possible fix.

Thanks,
Ron

I would check the lock actuator
disconnect it from the lock latch and try the key

That was what I was thinking. Are there any illustrations available to demonstrate how to do that?

1. Lower door glass.
Disengage clips holding speaker grille to trim panel.
Remove door trim panel retaining screws from behind speaker grille.
Remove screw cap and screw from bottom of armrest pull cup.

2. Remove door latch screw cap and retaining screw.
Disengage trim panel retaining clips from around edge of door.
Tilt top of trim panel away from door.
Disengage clip holding latch linkage to back of release handle.
Remove door trim panel and water shield.
