How to change the speedometer cable on a 1989

The speedometer stopped working (or at least stops working on and off), so I bought a new one to replace it. The service manual doesn't have how to replace this in it. The car is an automatic and we can't find the cable on the transmission or anywhere else. Any help with this?

It looks like a spiral cable or hidden in sleeve at the tailshaft of the tranny-not there its probably a vehicle speed sensor you're looking for.
