Electrical problem
1994 Dodge Spirit 4 cyl 45,000 miles

I have noticed an electrical smell coming from the engine somewhere when the car is running. I recently changed the battery, but I've checked those connections and they are secure. I don't know where to check for other possible loose connections, I couldn't see or tell where the smell might be coming from, there's is no smoke. What do I need to check? Do I need to be concerned to the point where I shouldn't drive the car? I'm concerned that it might start on fire with my wife and newborn.

If you don't see smoke, almost all of the circuits are fused so check, maybe oil is leaking slightly down the side of the engine. The charging system, remember has a new source of power so you may be smelling the increase in voltage in the system. If the battery was old and dead I wouldn, t worry. If it was new an overcharge condition(rare) may be present but your voltage indicator would show it.
No smoke. Ok Joe
