1993 Dodge Spirit Electrical issue

I have a 93 dodge spirit as I was driving on the freeway all of a sudden the radio went to static and the gauges stopped working. I turned off the lights and the gauges went back to normal I turned off the car for a minute and turned it back on and still had the same problem. Is it the alternator going bad?

I had a similar problem. When I would turn on the lights the radio and gages would go dead and come back on in a few seconds. I replaced the light switch and that cured the problem.

I had the exact same thing happen to my 94 Spirit.
Driving down the hwy radio went off then later the same day the guages started messing up. If I have the heater motor on high the speedometer stops working etc. The radio never did come back on. Turn the heater off and all is fine. I replaced the battery - the cables -- had the alternator checked etc. Finally gave up - curious to find out what it may be.
