In replying to your solution I had that checked before we did the scan on the car. My daughter drove the car last night and today and when she got home the battery was DEAD.I'm going to assume that the allternater is bad.

Don't assume, ... Diagnose. First check if the alternator is mounted on rubber bushings. If so, there is a braided ground strap that is likely not connected or is rusted off.

Next, measure the voltages at the battery like JD said. If you do not find 13.75 - 14.75 at the battery with the engine running, ground your digital meter at the battery negative post or on the engine, then measure the voltges on the two small alternator terminals, the heavy output wire AND on the case, then holler back.
