I have a 1996 Dodge ram 1500 with 175,000 miles, the power steering fluid is leaking from what I believe is the steering box. I am about 500 miles away from home right now and I need to know if I can make it home to take it to my trusted mechanic or if I need to have it fixed before trying to go home. It is draining completely about every 2days. I would also appreciate any ideas of what might be the problem, I am hoping it is just a seal, but I am not mechanic just the product of some. Tanks for any help.

What you should do is get some degreaser and clean off the fluid as best as you can. Fill up the ps fluid reservoir, start the vehicle and check for leaks. If you're loosing that much fluid that quickly then you should see it. Good luck
