I HAVE A 96 DODGE RAM 1500, 5.2 LITER V8, 2 WHEEL DRIVE, 150000 MILES. I HAD SOME ENGINE COOLANT LEAKING AND WAS TOLD IT WAS MY WATER PUMP. WELL I REPLACED MY WATER PUMP AND CRANKED IT UP AND LET IT RUN FOR A FEW MINUTES. WHEN I TURNED IT OFF THE COOLANT LEAK STARTED AGAIN! I CRAWLED UNDER IT AND FROM WHAT I COULD SEE (NOT MUCH) IT KIND OF LOOKS LIKE ITS LEAKING FROM BEHIND THE WATER PUMP? PLEASE HELP ITS MY ONLY VEHICLE AND I HAVE NOT MUCH MONEY! THANK YOU!

Did you make sure you got your gaskets on properly?
You should always make sure gasket mating surfaces are very clean, but don't scratch them up. If you made sure they where clean, and still have a hard time getting them to seal, ask the guy/gal at the parts counter for the proper gasket sealant for water pump applications. Use just enough and reassemble the water pump to the engine.

If you continue to leak, it's not the water pump. You will have to clean the surrounding area well, and use a flashlight and look carefully. It could be coming from many places.
