2005 Dodge Ram Excellerator

When I am driving my truck seems to surge when I am driving about 20-25mph. Then the other day, while at a light it would not take off until the peddle was about half way to the floor. Then it jumped and really took off. The check engine light goes on and off all the time. I have only owned this truck for about 8 months. This is driving me nuts! Any ideas on what to check?

First, it sounds like a throttle position sensor. However, if the check engine light has been on, there should be a code stored in the computer. Have the computer scanned to determine what code is stored. Most parts stores will do it for free. Once you get the code, it should identify where the problem is coming from.
