Lately I have noticed that the transmission in my truck seems to be slipping in the morning its just fine but in the after noon I noticed that the motor revs up then it goes into gear also when I down shift manually the truck will shudder slightly. I know it has a shift kit in it and it has had diagnostics ran on the transmission and it all checked out the line pressure is where it should be 117 psi to 121 psi the fluid is new and it might be a little over full I haven't checked the trans fluid filter nor do I know where it is I just bought it and the warranty is over.
thanks Steve

If the trans is slipping, it is usually the result of bad clutches. Has the check engine light ever come on? Also, if it is just out of warranty, have you contacted the dealer?

As far as the trans filter, if you remove the trans pan, it is right there attached to the valve body. If you have never removed a trans pan, be careful because all the fluid will run out when it gets loose.

Let me know what you find.

The check engine light hasn't ever come on and are the transmissions in the ram 1500 xlt heavy duty known for this problem around 80k miles, I haven, t contacted the dealer yet. Plus are those clutch bands something I can replace myself and does the trans need to be pulled to do it if I cant do it myself about how much would the job cost. We are about to tow a 5000lb camper to south dakota do u think it will make it ok.

Thanks for the quick reply

The trans needs removed and dissassembled. As far as the trip, I honestly can't say. I would have a dealer look at it. If you plan to pull something that heavy, it could let you down. As far as the transmissions, usually one gets more miles than that out of them, but I have seen them go sooner too.

I wish I had better news for you, but if you plan to take a long trip pulling an additional 5K pounds, have it checked at the dealer. It is hard for me from here.

Well the truck made the trip fine running at 5 thousand rpms almost all the way there but what did go bad on the way was the e.G.R valve which was unexpected when the check engine light came on I thought for sure the tranny was the problem like u had said but all went well other than that we drove about 100 miles or more with 1 of the trailer tires shredded to pieces and we had no idea. Thanks for all of ur advice.
