Transmission problem
2002 Dodge Ram V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic 118k miles

my truck's rpm drops and stays at around 1500 after reaching 45-50 mph or if I let go of the gas pedal. What can be causing this problem and can it affect any other parts in the car?

Are you saying the engine won't accellerate beyond that speed?

The engine does accelerate normally but the rpm stays at 1500 even while the speed is increasing unless the gas pedal floored

Is there a problem with the tachometer? If the RPM's are not increasing, the speed shouldn't.
