Engine Performance problem
2001 Dodge Ram V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic 102k miles

Ran fine yesterday, however when I went to start it this morning, it just started clicking when I turned the ignition key on, cleaned the battery posts and reseated them, started up fine. Backing out of the drive it died on me when I took my foot off the gas pedal, restarted, pulled back to where I left from and held the gas pedal down to keep it from shutting off, put it in Park, revved it a couple of times then slowly took foot off gas pedal and it died again, will not start if I dont press the gas pedal. Hope you can help me with this one! First problem ever! Thanks.

I have a 98 and that same thing happened to me. But after I held gas down for a min it started idling just fine and haven't had prob since. So I would also like to know what this fix is 2. Just in case I need to fix it in future.I"m not sure but I heard someone say something about a Ics (idol control sensor) or something close to that. And that would be my first guess if there are no vacuum leaks

The Idle air control (IAC) or throttle position sensor (TPS) can cause it. That is the reason I asked if the check engine light came on. Normally, the bad item sill set a code in the computer. Once the computer is scanned, it will identify which is the problem.
