If water is in rear end axle - makes alot of noise
what would problem/solution be? What would price range be? If you drain and put new fluid would that resolve problem?

If there is water in there, it needs removed ASAP. It can damage the bearings, gears. There is a rubber plug that you can remove to check. The fluid level should be to the bottom of the fill hole. If there is water in there, chances are it will be over full and come out as a creamy brown or white.

Let me know what you find.
