1996 Dodge Ram Truck slow to Move and a winding noise when

My truck started acting up the other day I would start it and it wouldnt idle now when I up it in drive or reverse it hesitates to move will one of my battery cables broke off due to corrison and I think that maybe causing all this problems because before that I had no problems at aLL

Has the check engine light come on? Which cable broke? Was it the + and did it short out on anything?

It was the negative cable that broke and the engine light never came on I dorve it eariler and my rpms run high when I get to about 45 mph around 3000 rpms so I think it maybe my transmission going out
