My question is, I have a 1996 Dodge Ram 2500/Van 3.9 Engine
Recently, will run fine during startup soon after 3 to 4 miles on freeway it stalls, pops and slows down to a creep. However, after several minutes with the engine off it will start ok with poor acceleration, and lack of power.
The check engine light is ON and as of yet I haven't had the codes pulled.
I was thinking that this could be an ignition module problem but all I found was a pickup mod. Under the distributor cap.
Please help, my funds are limited.

Alright additional post:

Codes P0300, P0301, P0302, P0304
indicate misfire in cylinders 1, 2, 4 I replaced all plugs and wires, distributor and rotor with new parts; still same problem exist.

Help !

Guessing/thinking can be expensive-get the computer scanned for code/s and comeback with it, this is where we start the diagnosis.

Misfires can be caused by worn or fouled spark plugs, a weak spark (weak coil, bad spark plug wire), loss of compression, vacuum leaks, anything that causes an unusually lean fuel mixture (lean misfire), an EGR valve that is stuck open, dirty fuel injectors, low fuel pressure, or even bad fuel.

A Random Misfire P0300 code usually indicates a vacuum leak or bad gas.

If a misfire in a specific cylinder should lead you to check the spark plug, fuel injector and compression.
