1994 Dodge Ram 1500 SLT

My emergency brake won't stay down, but when I push the brake down and hold it, it stiil locks the wheel. Does anyone know how I can fix it and approximately how much it will cost? If you can just tell me my problem, I can tell my mechanic exactly what is wrong. Please Help me!

The e-brake works on a ratchet lock system, not really serviceable, could be just a spring fell off and can get put back, but likely just have to replace it. As far as how much I couldnt tell you, but it should only take about 1 hour or so to do.
