1987 Dodge Mini Ram v-6 door handle

1987 mini ram van-vandals popped loose the door handle on the driver's side, and the key still works as well as the rod which by hand can open the door. So my question would be how should I go about re-securing the handle to the door?

You must take the inside door pad off with a door pad removal tool, after taking out all the screws. Be very careful not to break the clips.
Next remove the linkage from the lock, and slide off the clip that holds it in.
Put in new lock, and replace everything in reverse order of removal.
