Smell when turning fan on

When I turn in my fan. For circulation or whatever, I get this smell like you would if you stepped into a brand new leather unholstered car. Not unlike rubber smell but not really electrical either. Any ideas what may be causing this?

Sorry. My spelling is brutal. On my fan. Not in. And upholstered. Not unholstered

Look around the motor and look for mouse or rat droppings. Other than that could be an oil leak. One other question. Do you suffer from migrains?
