I have a 1990 dodge 4x4 power ram ive replaced the alternator but the system is still not charging. With the truck running I am getting interminante voltage. While truck running I will get 14 volts one time the next 12 or below. I was told the battery was good. There must be something else failing. This alternator has an internal regulator. Is there a pcm that controls the charging system? Running out of idea's please help

The only thing that controls it is internal regulator on the alternator. On the 3way connection on the generator here is a black wire if you follow it back there is a fusible link on it. It may be making contact then not as it may be connected by one or two strands. It will be a smaller wire connected to a larger one or a fuse. Do not confuse the black ground wire with this one as there is a black ground wire as well or should be that contacts the alternator. Also check yoru connections on the alternator as a wire that has only a couple of strand connection will do this as well.
