2004 Dodge Neon with 49000 miles

When I go to accelerate from a stop the brake light pops on and my car makes the ding sound which should happen if my e-brake is engauged. I never use my e-brake but when it first started happening I check to make sure someone else didnt pull it up. So the light and noise happened only when I accelerated quickly. Now it happens every time I go from a stop. What is causing it?

You may need new rear brakes and new hardware, the springs on the rear shoes my have broke and the noise you hear may be the shoes rubbing on the rear drums

What! No u don't need to change nothing. Just add brake fluid to ur master cylinder and thats it, I had exact same problem. It's that (!) Red sign comes on when u accelerate quickly than normal. My car is 2003 sx 2.0 and I havn't changed or touched rear brakes to date, and still they work pretty good when I rip that lever up :D
