Electrical problem
2003 Dodge Neon 4 cyl Automatic 105, 00 miles

My engine light came on and I had it looked at and the mechanic said that nothing was wrong, but the emissions code came up. He said that it could be the gas cap isn't on right or something like that. He reset everything and the light came on again a week later. The car runs fine. He told me to wait until something happens to the vehicle. What could possibly be the problem? Could it be a wiring giltch or is it something I should really be worried about?

40% of the time its nothing. That check engine light serves over 400 different codes, and many more I bet. I had a toyota corolla that the check engine light came on. I took it in, they said that my car was running on lean, so it would be a huge amount to fix it. Further investigation showed that a small wire int he oxygen sensor malfunctioned. The car was running fine, no problem. Just an annoying light. If you dont notice something wrong with the car, chances are nothing is wrong, its a minor computer error, and you can get the engine light reset (or use tape to cover it up). If your really skeptical, have it checked out.
