2001 Dodge Neon dashboard is pelling and faded

For some reason Chrysler used a plastic film over plastic. After it sits out in the sun for countless summers, it begins to flake and peel. Underneath is a similar, but dull grey material. You can sand it, but it will not look the same. You could paint it if you are skilled or know someone who is. I would avoid anything too glossy however as it will reflect off of the windshield.
