Suspension problem
2000 Dodge Neon 4 cyl Automatic 140000 miles

Motor mounts were broken, so my husband changed them. They lasted only about a week. We thought they were faulty so returned them and changed them again. This time they lasted about 2 weeks.

Is he doing something wrong or are they from a bad lot?

Has car been in a previous accident? If frame is bent or misaligned or if the engine itself is misaligned it will cause the mounts to fail quickly. Also ensure you are checking ALL mounts, not just one. Don't forget to check the transmission mount either.

Thanks for the advice. I've only had the car for 2 years and I don't know what may have happened before then. I guess an accident is possible.

My husband will check the transmission mount as well. He had changed the 2 on the passenger's side. They are the ones that have been breaking, but we'll look into your suggestions.

Thanks again.
