How do you set the timing on a 1999 Dodge Neon, is it up and down, the mark facing each other or going in the same direction?

What if you put one of the timing marks upside down? It is running fine. Will it cause a problem?

If the engine is running smooth and compression is good in all cylinders than the timing belt is on correctly and its A OK. No possible way you could have installed it off of the timing mark and it run good.

The timing must be set as per pic, I could not imagine that it would run at all if one of the cams was that far out.
