2004 Dodge Intrepid what's wrong with my trans?

Just in the last two weeks, my trans seems to get stuck between 1st & 2nd gear when accellerating. This lasts for about 20-30 seconds then it jumps in to gear. It happens at least 3-4 times before the engine temp gets to just under the half mark on the temp gauge. Yesterday my check engine light came on also.

Hi:
It sounds like there may be a shift solenoid problem on the valve body. If the check engine light is on, take the car to a nationally recognized parts and have them scan the computer for trouble codes. Most of the stores will do it for free and it will point us in the right direction.
