We have replaced the 2 external sensors on the transmission. Is there internal ones also? The check engine light is on and if we step on the break or give it gas too quick it feels like it gets stuck in third gear. We then shut off the car and turn it on and it runs fine till step on it too quick.

Is the check engine light on? If sensor has failed then the light will definitely show up, seems like you may have an issue with the torque converter

Yes the check light is on all the time. But it seems like if it was the torque converter it would be doing it all the time and it doesnt. Is there more sensors in the tranny?

Since light is on just pull the code(s) thats stored and it should pinpoint the cuplrit. There is at least one more sensor that is in the valve body of the tranny.
