2001 Dodge Intrepid Shifter

Transmission problem
2001 Dodge Intrepid 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 132xxx miles

I have a 01 dodge intrepid and this morning i went to put it in park from drive when i hurt it snap and found out that the shifter cable came off of the shifter but now the shifter cable will not change gears at all like its stuck in the gear and will not move i have tried everything to get it in park but it wont move on the dash it says its in D but the car rolls backwards on the incline im parked on so i know it has to be in neutral so do you think its the transmission just locked up or what??????

Transmission cable needs to be replace. transmission cable from shift lever to shift linkage that controls the selection of the gears in a automatic transmission, yuo need a new one
