hi i just bought a 96 intrepid for a winter car , and the car was very well throughout. the problem is there is a quarter turn of play both directions before the wheels turn. the tie-rod ends and sleeves were replaced recently. the left front tire was bald and the right was not as bad. power steering pump seems fine and the steering is not tight, but its just not there! Please give me a clue as to how many hours of labour roughly to change the rack, if thats what the problem might be? Thanks for your advice.

Even though they were replaced, get a good look at the inner tie rod end bushings at the firewall. I have seen these incorrectly installed.

Have someone rock the steeringwheel.

Also look at the bushings on the outside of the rack where they mount at. I

It's 6.3 hours according to mitchell to change the rack. Be sure it's internal or you'll be upset if it is still there.
