1994 Dodge Intrepid leaking oil

My car has recently all of a sudden stopped holding oil. It will leak out very quickly, like within 20 minutes. I think it may be the front seal, but my oil filter keeps coming lose also. It will not stay tightened. Does this sound like a major issue or can it be fixed without the motor having to be replaced?

Sounds like the thread on the oil filter housing is stripped, thus won't create a good seal between the filter gasket to the block. You don't have to replace the whole motor, just the oil filter housing.
