My wife got stranded in Norton Va last week. The Durango just quit. She was able to get to the next exit. It would run but very rough. She was able to find a very honest mechanic. He did a complete tune up, changed the injectors. Then took them back out becuase they didn't fix the problem. He took it to a dealership and they told him it could be the computor. The mechanic got it to where it will run at high speeds but has a very bad miss as low speeds. You have to put it in neutral and fan the gas to keep it running. Anybody have any idea what is wrong with this Durango?

Yes we did that and it said that three injectors on the left side were bad. So we repalced them and still nothing. Doing the same thing.

I don't know what the codes were. My wife is broke down in eastern KY and I am in Florida. Her nephew figured out one thing that was wrong. It has a broken valve on the left side. As of last night he had that fixed and was putting it back together. I have talked to a couple of mechanics around here and they told me that the codes will just point you in the right direction and really not tell you what is wrong with the car. It's been a real mess so far and I have not heard this morning if it is running now or not.

I wish you and her the best of luck
your mechanic friends are correct as they said codes will point you in the direction of the problem
lets say its misfiring on cyl # 1 then you know you are dealing with a misfire issue
and not looking for a fuel pump or an o2 sensor issue.

Each code have a list of think that will go with it so you can check.
It makes diagnosing the problem much easier
