Security system goes off?

The factory alarm on my 99 durango slt will not stop going off. I unlocked the driver side door and it started going off. I inserted the key like I have done before to disarm the alarm and it did not work. The truck will turn over and start but shuts down right away. Is there any solution to this problem and if so can I do it myself, or do I need to bring it in somewhere? If I do need to bring it in what type of place sould I look for?

The dealer is best equipped for a problem of this type and will often find the problem in less time than other independent shops where they have to try to be experts on every brand and model. But before you trot off for their help, try the key in the passenger door. If that works, suspect a broken wire between the left door hinges, or the link between the switch and lock cylinder is disconnected or broken.

Do you have the remote key fob to unlock the doors? That will also trigger the disarm signal.
