I have a check EGR light on the dash. Truck has 70,000 miles. EGR seems to be OK. How do I turn dash light notification off? Have tried disconnecting the Neg. Battery terminal w/o success. Thanks

The egr light comes on periodically at 52,500, 82,500 and 105,000 miles. A digital electronic module needs to be reset. This is a reminder to do the emissions maintenance. Since we know you just did all that, now you need to reset the module. Have a 9 volt alkaline battery on hand to replace the one in the module as you reset it. Do not disconnect the wiring connector to the module especially while the battery is out! So slide the module out, insert a small screwdriver into the small hole on the module case and close the switch. Take off the module cover for the battery and replace it. Return the module to the mounting bracket. :)

Have looked for the module you referred to. Unable to locate. Is it under dash? Or in the engine compartment? Once found I'm sure I can reset and change battery. ?

There should be a small blue box locate just above the emergency brake mounted on a bracket below the headlight switch on the back of the instrument panel.
