There is black liquid leaking out of the mffler seam. I know there is typically some moisture when you start a vehicle, but this is dripping from the muffler. Is it just the muffler rusting through or is there a more serious problem? The trcuk only has 7,000 miles on it.

That sounds like oil is getting in the exhaust. You may have put a batch of bad gas if you filled up using a gas container. It sounds stupid but I have met people who have done it. If not then you may have bad seals causing oil seapage into your exhaust.
