Brakes problem
2002 Dodge Dakota Two Wheel Drive Automatic 28000 miles

after driving awhile my break pedal comes to the top of its travel and slowes the truck down. first it feels like the breaks have been aplied and the roter is out of round anf the truck jumps a little. then it seems to get worse and it feels like I am putting on the breaks. after the truck has time to cool down everything goes back to normal,then will do the same thing when it gets hot. any ideas? thanks

Hi,

It sounds like one of the rubber brake lines is bad. They have been known to break down inside. It may allow fluid to only move in one direction and not return. As a result, the longer you drive, more fluid stays in a caliper or wheel cylender causing the brake to stick. Or, you may have a brake caliper that is binding when it gets hot. Remember, unlike water which expands when it gets cold, steel expands when it gets hot. First, when you are having the problem, jack the vehicle up and determine which brake is sticking. Then, follow through with the check paying special attention to the wheel that sticks.
